Chief Executive officer
Patrick Quattlebaum (PQ) is a designer, consultant, and teacher who gets up every morning to bring creativity, rigor, and humanity to problem-solving.
With two decades of experience in design strategy and service design, he places a premium on pushing design practice to be more value-centered, collaborative, and iterative. Along with co-author Chris Risdon, Patrick shares his design philosophy and its practical applications in Orchestrating Experiences: Collaborative Design for Complexity (Rosenfeld, May 2018).
Throughout his career, Patrick has consulted to organizations desiring to transform their products and services to better meet the needs of people. Before co-founding Harmonic Design, he was Founder at studioPQ, Managing Director at Adaptive Path, and Head of Service Design at Capital One. Patrick has directed teams of experience and service designers charged with disrupting business-as-usual practices and infusing human-centered mindsets and behaviors into organizations.
Industries Patrick has designed for include: retail, healthcare, financial services, consumer goods, travel and tourism, government, and the non-profit sector. He has also provided management consulting to organizations—such as USAA, Lowe’s Home Improvement, REI, AirBnb, Booz Allen Hamilton, Capital One, Cox Communications, and State Farm—to mature their strategic design capabilities.
Patrick is an in-demand speaker and instructor. He has taught thousands of practitioners in North America and Europe on topics such as service design, design strategy, design research, and interaction design. His other passions—storytelling, film studies, and improv—often find their way into his design work.
